Even though every other aspiring fashion enthusiast and content creator is rushing into making try-on-haul videos as a way to explore doing what they enjoy, not all of them have artistic expression in them. See, I like to think that even something as simple as an on haul, which in many people’s perspective is all about going through a bunch of fashion attires while throwing a few words at it, not so many succeed in making the right delivery. Not to offend anyone, but many of these try-on hauls are just meh.
With Sanne Vander, her style does best when it comes to reminding us what we are slowly losing the grip of- that the whole point of try-on haul is to inform, entertain, advise, and attract engagement. Most people are stuck at entertaining and not even good at it. I was watching this swimwear haul, and before I started, I rushed to check how long this would take from my life ( sadly, that is how bad we have come). I realize 19 minutes is unusually too long for a haul, but more than 202k views hinted at that duration being worth it. It piqued my interest.
Just seconds in, I noticed that Sanne is very eloquent; I would say it communicated a lot of professionalism, just the right choice of words, and was not too bland. She seems like someone who understood her work well. This is worth noting because most aspiring fashion enthusiasts don’t have much to say about their attires other than throwing the words “cute” and “flattering.” In other words, I have seen try-on hauls where our host barely says anything substantial. While I was listening to Sanne talk about the pink floral tankini, I got carried away admiring how she talked. By the time I realized it, I was already four minutes in.
Four minutes on one set of swimwear? Yes, usually, that would have been enough to cover at least three different sets of attires. But I like Sanne’s slow-paced and more organized way. Even though the video is nearly 20 minutes long, she did not take that opportunity to showcase her entire closet. Instead, she dedicates more than four minutes to each asset. And she makes good use of these four minutes. Rather than getting carried away with self-obsession, she shares a piece of mind, giving her views and advice to her undecided viewers. I could sense the honesty from a mile away. Most hauls try hard to market and sell out whatever they are showing, but Sanne is genuine with her feelings. The best part is when she tries them on, and the viewers see how the attire looks on her.
Generally, she only shows five pieces from Blackbough and dedicates enough time to going through each of them. For the first time, I am taking note of a brand with a unique, if not usual, bathing suit collection. I was awed that some sets come with a matching travel bag. Just everything about the video is extra ordinary.
